Description of inline pallet changer TOPPY INVERTER INLINE

Toppy Inverter is a stationary pallet turner provided with two roll conveyors, one on each platform. Rotations and lifting are obtained by hydraulic system. This system works 60 pallet / hour with every size of pallet, to which have to be added the time to change the pallet size. (example: from 800×1200 mm to 1000×1200 mm and vice versa).

 

Toppy Inverter in line is provided with no. 2 chain conveyors, one on each platform, with length 1000 mm. In front of the equipment and right behind it there are installed no. 2 chain conveyors in order to reach the total required length.

 

The automatic pallet changer is equipped with the adaptive centering system with sonar measurement that allows to center the goods inside the new pallet while compensating for the difference in size of the two pallets if they are different. The security of the system is guaranteed through the use of a perimeter of metal meshes and man photocells for access control.

Fully automatic Toppy Inverter logistic system, is prepared to work at -10° with a dedicated Silicoil oil inside the machine, and a heater system installed in the electric cabinet.

 

How does the pallet change operation take place?

Below we describe the logistics system phases in order to replace wooden pallet with a plastic pallet. Vice versa, operation can be managed via PLC with adequate programming.

The Toppy Inverter performs the pallet changing operation by the following cycle:

 

  1. Before the arrival of the product on the old pallet, the pallet on which the product will be placed at the end of the pallets change, moves from the Input Roll Conveyor to the Toppy Inverter Lower Roll Conveyor.

 

  1. Here the new pallet is locked by the pallet holder and is lifted by rotation of the toppy Inverter, so that it can be exchanged to the old pallet during the cycle and thus exchange with the roller conveyor which was located above

 

  1. The product arrives on pallets on the Input Roll Conveyor.

 

  1. The product moves from the Input Roll Conveyor to the Toppy Inverter Lower Roll Conveyor.

 

  1. Operators from the walkable platform will move on the roller conveyor to apply the cover on the product, before the start of the cycle
  2. The goods enter the Toppy Inverter and the side wall closes behind it.

 

  1. Once the side wall is closed, the Toppy Inverter Upper Roll Conveyor and the Toppy Inverter Lower Roll Conveyor are to block the product.

 

  1. Now the Toppy Inverter turns the goods by 180 °, holding the product through the pressure of the platforms and the side wall.

 

  1. Once the goods are turned, the Toppy Inverter Upper Roll Conveyor detaches from the product by lifting and carrying the old pallet, while the product with the new pallet is returned to line height thanks to the Toppy Inverter Lower Roll Conveyor.

 

  1. From the Toppy Inverter Lower Roll Conveyor (2) it moves on the Output Roll Conveyor (5), ready to be unloaded by an operator.

 

The line can work with 4 cycles:

 the main cycle

 n.3 secondary cycles:

– Preload of the pallet;

– Pallet unload leaved inside the Toppy Inverter;

– Drive through: the load is positioned on the Input roll conveyor, the pallet passes through the

Toppy Inverter roller conveyor, and then goes on the Output roll conveyor.

FROM WOODEN PALLET TO PLASTIC PALLET: In many companies, there must be a separation between the goods reception area, where the shipping pallet generally made of woods are stopped, to the “white area” of the warehouse, where sanitized pallets (aluminum or plastic) are used.     Our pallet changers system can suit perfectly because they are able to handle heavy goods and / or fragile products whatever is the incoming pallet, replace it with a used one and center the product. It’s also possible to carry our automatic packaging operations.
  2. SHIPPING with SLIP SHEET WITHOUT PALLET: It’s essential to save on the transport cost of the shipment of finished products. The pallet represents an important cost for those with a high flow of outgoing products. In addition, without the use of the pallet in the shipment, companies greatly increase the number of products that can be stowed. Our Inverter pallet changer placed at the end of the production process, are able to insert automatically a slipsheet under the load, which will be ready for shipment without the pallet. The pallet stackers will automatically stack all the pallets removed.
  1. SAFETY and WORK REDUCTION FOR OPERATORS: Our Pallet Inverter significantly increase safety within the process, as the manual work of operators is seriously reduced. Our pallet Inverter systems are very safe as they are equipped with advanced safety systems. The access to dangerous areas is controlled by doors with sensors, photocells or laser scanners in order to prevent dangerous cycles.
  1. PICKING & AGV: We offer a logistics line able to automate the composition of the load. The pallet management is automated with the AGV system, in order to facilitate the operator in the composition of the load.
  1. CLEANING, DEDUSTING AND SANITIZING: In the production range with our pallet inverter can be implemented a sanitization or dedusting system. We usually supply these systems to companies that need to separate the “white” area from the “grey”. Where necessary, there are inserted few particle counters in order to check the cleanliness and sanitization of the air before opening the doors. The main objective is to avoid that too high numbers of particles remain suspended in certified atmospheres of UNI EN ISO 14644-1 certified environments (Federal Standard 209D, 209E in the United States).

How does the pallet change take place?

How are the products loaded or unloaded from the pallet changer devices?

They can be loaded and unloaded by forklift or forklift truck.

How does it operates with fragile products?

Even the most fragile products are securely locked by the upper platform in order to safe the product.  The upper platform locks the products with a light pression managed by a shock absorber system and limit-switches that prevent the products to be crushed.

What’s the difference between “mobile” and “stationary” pallet?

The mobile pallet changers are really versatile systems as they do not need to dedicate a specific area for the operation so can be performed in any production area. The stationary pallet changers partially compensate the use of the transpallet as it allows the transport of the loads inside the dispenser.

Our stationary pallet changer are used by customers who need to change a substantial number of pallets per hour and can’t have a dedicated area dedicated for the pallet change operation.

 

Pallet change logistics systems are required to automate consistent flows of goods on pallet. In order to manage large quantities of goods and to reduce personnel costs, we usually recommend our logistics lines.
