Description of the inline pallet changer L-SHAPE

The system guarantees a productivity of 70 pallets per hour.

Toppy L-Shape is a full automatic pallet changer allowing a very quick pallet exchange for stable loads.The lower platform is equipped with a roll conveyor, so that the machine can be placed in a logistic line keeping a one direction flow.

Toppy L-Shape is equipped with a Sonar centring system on the side perpendicular to the direction of the pallet running.

The machine can be equipped as optional with a lifting system placed under the lower platform of the Toppy L-Shape in order to equalize the height difference due to the pallet replacement cycle.

The system is designed to perform the load transfer cycle from incoming pallet to system pallet

 

How does the pallet change operation take place?

Below we describe the logistics system phases needed to replace wooden pallet with a plastic pallet. Vice versa, operation can be managed via PLC with adequate program:

The operating logic of the system is illustrated below:

The origin pallet with the load is driven from the customer conveyor to the roll conveyor equipped on Toppy L-Shape lower platform.

 

  1. Thanks to the hydraulic translation system equipped under the conveyor, the platform is shifted in perpendicular direction respect to the load running direction. The origin pallet with the load stops into the Toppy L – Shape frame against the back-folding bar. The origin pallet is locked by the pneumatic pallet holder device installed on the lower platform of Toppy L – Shape. The lower platform is lifted by the hydraulic system placed under the conveyor in order to equalize the height difference between the origin pallet and the destination pallet (optional).
    The machine starts the tilting cycle and at the same time the upper compactor, controlled by a gear motor placed on the top of the machine, goes down.
    The frame of Toppy L-Shape and the lower platform perform the tilting cycle from 0° to 105°. In this position the load is locked between the 2 side platforms and covered by rubber protection.

 

  1. The system detects the load size. With this info, the destination pallet will be placed on centred position respect to the load on the side perpendicular to the direction of the pallet running. The lower platform, holding the origin pallet, performs the tilting cycle from 105° to 0° while the load is locked inside the L-Shape frame and by the 2 side platforms. Thanks to the hydraulic system placed under the conveyor (optional), the lower platform goes down at the logistic line height. Thanks to the hydraulic translation system, the platform is shifted in perpendicular direction respect to the pallet running direction, in order to align the conveyor equipped on the lower platform with the customer logistic line.
    The origin pallet without the load is released by the pneumatic pallet holder device and then is driven from the roll conveyor equipped on lower platform to the customer conveyor.

 

  1. The destination pallet without the load is driven from the customer conveyor to the roll conveyor equipped on Toppy L-Shape lower platform.
    The destination pallet is locked by the pneumatic pallet holder installed on the lower platform of Toppy L-Shape. Thanks to the hydraulic translation system equipped under the conveyor, the platform is shifted in perpendicular direction respect to the pallet running direction. Thanks to the sonar system the destination pallet is placed on centred position respect to the load (only in perpendicular direction respect to the pallet travel direction).
  2. The lower platform performs the tilting cycle from 0° to 105° and places the destination pallet under the load. The load is released by the 2 side platforms and the Toppy L – Shape frame with the lower platform perform the tilting cycle from 105° to 0°. The upper compactor is lifted by the gear motor placed on the top of the machine, in order to release the load, thanks to the hydraulic translation system, the platform is shifted in perpendicular direction respect to the pallet running direction, in order to align the conveyor equipped on the lower platform with the customer logistic line. The destination pallet with the load Is released by the pneumatic pallet holder device.
    In this position, the destination pallet and the load are at the height of the roll conveyors.

SECURITY SYSTEM

The MEKKANO gate combines with the components for the EASY BARRIER perimeter protection overcoming the limits of welded framing.

 

Using the pre-painted elements and original connecting systems with screw fastening, it is possible to assemble gates of different width in a rapid and clean way, making them ready to be installed. With the same elements, the MEKKANO gate can be prepared in the right or left configuration, with outward or inward opening.

 

All the configurations of the gate can be obtained either for the version with the upper support or without it. The high strength of the connecting elements makes the structure as rigid as a classic welded frame.

In addition, without the use of the pallet in the shipment, companies greatly increase the number of products that can be stowed. Our Inverter pallet changer placed at the end of the production process, are able to insert automatically a slipsheet under the load, which will be ready for shipment without the pallet. The pallet stackers will automatically stack all the pallets removed.
  1. SAFETY and WORK REDUCTION FOR OPERATORS: Our Pallet Inverter significantly increase safety within the process, as the manual work of operators is seriously reduced. Our pallet Inverter systems are very safe as they are equipped with advanced safety systems. The access to dangerous areas is controlled by doors with sensors, photocells or laser scanners in order to prevent dangerous cycles.
  1. PICKING & AGV: We offer a logistics line able to automate the composition of the load. The pallet management is automated with the AGV system, in order to facilitate the operator in the composition of the load.
  1. CLEANING, DEDUSTING AND SANITIZING: In the production range with our pallet inverter can be implemented a sanitization or dedusting system. We usually supply these systems to companies that need to separate the “white” area from the “grey”. Where necessary, there are inserted few particle counters in order to check the cleanliness and sanitization of the air before opening the doors. The main objective is to avoid that too high numbers of particles remain suspended in certified atmospheres of UNI EN ISO 14644-1 certified environments (Federal Standard 209D, 209E in the United States).

How does it operates with fragile products?

Even the most fragile products are securely locked by the upper platform in order to safe the product.  The upper platform locks the products with a light pression managed by a shock absorber system and limit-switches that prevent the products to be crushed.

What’s the difference between “mobile” and “stationary” and “pallet changer logistics systems”?

The mobile pallet changers are really versatile systems as they do not need to dedicate a specific area for the operation so can be performed in any production area. The stationary pallet changers partially compensate the use of the transpallet as it allows the transport of the loads inside the dispenser.

Our stationary pallet changer are used by customers who need to change a substantial number of pallets per hour and can’t have a dedicated area dedicated for the pallet change operation.
